An Investigative Study on the General Circumstances, V.D. Contraction and Remedial States Mainly on the Area of Pohang City (Jan. 1977-March 1977)

Abstract
|
|
|
This paper is an analytical investigative result about the general circumstances and venereal diseases of the prostitutes who are living in Pohang area. The results of this research are as follows;
A. The general circumstances of practitutes.
1. The ever whelming majority of them come form the rural areas, very few from urban.
2. Average age is 22-24 years, but there is a tendency that their age is growing young.
3. T hey are mostly low educated. (primary school 55.3%, middle school 21.4%, high school 6.3%).
4. ´The average period to be ruined is about 2 years.
5. They are fallen at the age 15-19 years (67%).
6. They are sank to the prostitute from workers of restaurant, factory, tea-room, shop and others.
7. A monthly earning is average 40, 000 won, but is mostly extorted by the pimps or in keepers.
8. They have mostly grown at the irregular family and 22.8% of them are orphans.
B. Contracting a venereal circumstances and the circumstances of medical cure of V. D.
1. Infected persons are 71.4% and 28.6% of them are not infected.
2. Infected parts are as follows:
Primary syphilis 76.2%, secondary syp. 23.8°%, gonorrhea 71.6%, urethritis
67.8% (2nd infected 25. 6%, 3rd infected 11. 6%), trichomoniasis 41.7%.
3. The means of cure is like this;
Pharmacy 32.0%, hospital 31.3%, own cure 19.0%, hospitalized cure 17.7%.
4. The burden on cure is too heavy for them, so they couldn´t cure enough for their disease owing to medical fee or time for cure.
